sunday song

Jesus, I am resting, resting,
In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.
Thou hast bid me gaze upon Thee,
And Thy beauty fills my soul,
For by Thy transforming power,
Thou hast made me whole.

Refrain
Jesus, I am resting, resting,
In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.

O, how great Thy loving kindness,
Vaster, broader than the sea!
O, how marvelous Thy goodness,
Lavished all on me!
Yes, I rest in Thee, Belovèd,
Know what wealth of grace is Thine,
Know Thy certainty of promise,
And have made it mine.

Refrain

Simply trusting Thee, Lord Jesus,
I behold Thee as Thou art,
And Thy love, so pure, so changeless,
Satisfies my heart;
Satisfies its deepest longings,
Meets, supplies its every need,
Compasseth me round with blessings:
Thine is love indeed!

Refrain

Ever lift Thy face upon me
As I work and wait for Thee;
Resting ’neath Thy smile, Lord Jesus,
Earth’s dark shadows flee.
Brightness of my Father’s glory,
Sunshine of my Father’s face,
Keep me ever trusting, resting,
Fill me with Thy grace.
Refrain

funny faces

For all of you here are some pictures of Logan's funny face he makes.  He was doing it on cue for us at dinner the other night and we could barely breathe we were all laughing so hard!

And as an added benefit for those of you who think my house is always clean let me point out what I'm sure you have already so joyfully seen ;)
*  Disastrous child not wearing the bib located so conveniently
*sticky applesauce all over the table that didn't get wiped up until the next day
*high chair with who knows what stuck on it
* a couch covered with folded clothes that I was too tired to put away.

The Logi Bear definitely put a cramp in my OCD but he's cute so I'll deal :)

breakfast picnic

This past weekend my parents came to see Connor for his birthday and spend Mother's Day with us.

Saturday morning we had a breakfast picnic of yummy doughnuts and juice at Turner Lake Park.  We walked around the nature trail after and found some tadpoles and decided to take some home to watch grow into frogs (more on that later).

The morning was beautiful and breezy and a special surprise since we had planned to be spending the day working at the YL Car Show which got cancelled because it was supposed to rain all day.  Didn't bother us too much though because Zach and I got to spend a gorgeous morning with my parents and the boys and the afternoon and evening on a shopping/dinner/movie date :)

birthday at the bouncy place

Per Connor's party request Zach and I took Connor, Micah, Logan, William and Silas to the bouncy place last Friday afternoon.  I will skip telling you about the ridiculous anxiety I had the whole time because when  we got there we found out an afterschool program was bringing 50+ kids there at the exact same time.  Just go with the first stereotype of afterschool children behavior and the adults who watch them and add my brain and you'll understand.

All the boys had a great time and were good listeners but pretty much refused to stay still long enough to get any kind of picture except for Mr. William who finally stopped for me once :) Every time I asked my boys they just said cheese while still running and when I asked Silas he did his best to stay still for a micro second before he darted like a little squirrel to the next thing.

After about two hours they were ready to call it quits and head to Scoops for some ice cream.  Then Zach treated them each to a quarter to use for the bubble gum machine.

The highlight for me was driving all except Micah in the car.  I love listening to the conversations of a group of kids because they always crack me up.  On the way from the bouncy place to Scoops we played a game of "Let's not eat ice cream, Let's eat _____________"  suggestions included cars, bricks, shoes, Logan, poopy, grass, etc.  You get the picture ;)

birthday day

Connor's 4th birthday started out with the birthday breakfast of his choice which was waffles and hot tea.

We spent the morning at school to watch Micah in field day and spent the afternoon playing in the backyard with the 'new' pitchback net we got at the mission team's yard sale.

Before we went out for his birthday dinner he opened his presents.  Zach and I got him a sword and sheath and Prince Caspian.  Micah picked out a new foam woodgrain bat and ball, a knight cape and a shield so he could dress up like Peter (Narnia Peter not Pan Peter).

Then it was off to the most random birthday dinner spot thus far, Panda Express.

Then home for some birthday angel cake with strawberries and cool whip.  His Daddy's favorite is becoming his apparently :)

Happy Birthday Connor!!
