charlie elliot field trip

Last Thursday Micah had a field trip to Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center.  Charlie Elliott is only 20 minutes away so they were able to spend a really long time there.  The first thing his group did was going fishing in the pond.  The bait was 20 year old hot dogs cut into pieces.  It was seriously disgusting and smelled terribly but apparently the fish like it.

Micah caught his first fish about 2 seconds after putting his hook in the water.  After that there was lots of bait getting stolen but finally he caught one more before our time was up.

Next they collected net fulls of sand from the edge of the pond and searched through it to find different specimans.  Between the whole class they found some really cool stuff including a huge tadpole, a frog who still had his tadpole tail, and a dragonfly nymph.

After a break for lunch they took everyone in a room to talk about the 6 different venomous snakes found in Georgia and then got to see 3 different nonvenomous snakes.

We were pretty exhausted after such a long day outside but it was a fun time.  While we were there we found out that they have special kids only ponds on site for fishing.  We will definitely be heading there sometime this summer!

goodbye pre-k 3

Logan finished his first year of preschool last week.  On Wednesday each class got to a time to play in the inflatable bounce houses and have a picnic as their end of the year party.  They bounced, slid and played basketball in those things for 45 minutes and he was soaking wet with sweat when the time was up.

Friday was their official last day and he had a great time playing with his friends one last time before coming home with his Summer Fun Bucket full of goodies.

Mrs. Leah and Mrs. Vivian were two wonderfully sweet and patient teachers this.  They completely loved him and he loved them and for a little boy whose favorite thing is to be attached to his mama it was a wonderful thing.  Next year he will be in Pre K and will go to the same place but will be there five days a week instead of just three.

Until then he's all mine for the next three months. It's going to be a fun summer!

A little bit of mother's day...

7

Connor turned 7 on Sunday.  On Mother's Day.  My boys have a knack for stealing my special days, but they're cute so I'll try to forgive them.

Connor's birthday started with his surprise birthday greeting on our chalk wall and a breakfast burrito breakfast.  However since it was Mother's Day I requested Croissants so we had a Mexican French breakfast twist :)

He opened his presents which consisted of a Capo for his guitar, a stuffed Cheetah that he has since named Cheet or Cheat I'm not sure, and a Rockies hat.  He also asked for a Rockies jersey but it wasn't delived until Tuesday.  I know the Rockies thing seems weird but a couple years ago in his baseball cards he came across a pitcher named Tyler Chatwood.  For whatever reason Connor deemed Tyler his favorite player ever and has been following him ever since.  He was traded to the Rockies so therefore we have a Rockies fan in the house.  It's all quite hilariously cute.

Since our church is meeting in the afternoons right now and because we didn't have small group due to Mother's Day, we had the whole morning to hang out and play.  I planted flowers and the boys played baseball with Zach outside.

Then off we went to a delicious lunch at Dairy Queen chosen by our birthday boy.  He told me he wanted to pick Captain D's but knows I hate it so he changed his mind.  So considerate that one.  After an afternoon of more boy playing we headed to church and then home to eat dinner and to watch baby Connor videos.

It was a fun and exhausting weekend celebrating our birthday boy!

BMX birthday

Last Friday I threw what is without a doubt one of the most fun and easiest parties I will ever throw.  Ever since visiting the BMX track last fall with our friends Connor declared that that is where he would have his birthday party.  Every month or so he would remind me/inform me that that was still the plan.

Finally his birthday was coming and we could actually have the anticipated event.  We invited four of his friends and one of Micah's along with two brothers of invitees for a grand total of 10 boys with infinite energy. I provided the food and drinks and the Sandy Ridge BMX track provided all the entertainment. For two straight hours with only brief stops for a hot dog dinner and cake and ice cream, these boys rode around and around and around. There were a couple of minor spills but overall there was sheer joy, determined faces, and sweaty heads!

Such a FUN night!
