Halloween 2017

Halloween was pretty low key compared to years past and it was amazing.  When Halloween is on a school night it's hard to party too hard.  We carved pumpkins a day or two before and then went trick of treating with friends in a local picturesque neighborhood in Covington. The first house we visited belonged to Logan's Kindergarten teacher which was a fun surprise!

It was another year of non matching costumes inspired by the boys' current favorite things.  Micah dressed up as Jamie from Mythbusters and looked amazing even if he did get confused with a french painter from time to time.  Connor, after all of us had just watched the Hobbit (trilogy) chose Legolas.  It was perfect!  Logan chose to be Johnny, a gorilla from the movie Sing!.  A friend custom made his shirt and I got a Johnny mask from Etsy.  It was a unique choice and he quickly became super popular with our friend's son who is OBSESSED with that movie and Johnny.  He called Logan Johnny all night and it was the cutest!

Zach and I dressed as Fred and Daphne from Scooby Doo.  A friend gave me her costumes from the previous year and they were a huge hit!  The funniest part was that Zach had NO CLUE who we were.  His frenchiness strikes again!

mitcham farm field trip

I love any field trip with one of my boys and Logan's first field trip of Kindergarten was to Mitcham Farm just down the road from our home.  They had all sorts of fall festival fun with a cow train, tunnel slide, corn maze, petting zoo, corn shucking, hay ride, and more.  Any day with my baby is a good day!

flag football

Regular football may never happen for the May boys because it scares me big time, but flag football I can get on board with.  I don't know if we'll do it again next year, but it was a fun experience nonetheless.  Logan and Connor were on the same team and they were a great duo.  Their coach even designed a play for them called the Brother Combo.  Micah was on a team with kids who were all atleast two years older than him, but he held his own and did great at running back since he could squeeze in between them all.

Thanks Shiloh Baptist Church for all you organizaiton!

fall break: a day in D.C.

Last day of the trip but we couldn't go home without a brief stop in DC.  This is on our plans to visit again for multiple days but until then we did our best to get in as much as we could in 5 short hours.

National Treasure is one of the boys' favorite movies, Micah especially, so our day was full of movie quotes and "hey do you remember when..." sentences.  It also meant that our day just had to begin at the National Archives for a glimpse at The Declaration of Independence.  I was not prepared for how special that moment would be, staring down at these words penned so long ago.

Next we took a short cut through the Museum of Natural History on our way to the Washington Monument and then kept walking towards the Lincoln Memorial and I think we saw the World War II monument along the way.  Honestly, the whole day is somewhat of a blur!

After seeing the White House from a distance because it was fenced off really far away and then spotting a statue of Marquis de Lafayette we ubered our exhausted bodies back to our car and drove straight home arriving at 2:30 am.

It took awhile to recover from that trip, we packed in a lot, but it is one we will never ever forget!  We made such great memories, saw so much, and bonded well with our boys who were rockstars everywhere we went.  Zach planned it all and I enjoyed every minute, like seriously, and that is saying something!
