baseball opening day

One of our busiest and favorite seasons of the year has started.  It's BASEBALL SEASON!  We have three boys playing on the three different teams now which is pretty much how life is going to go from now until childhood is in the past.  My parents and brother and his family came up for their first games.  It was so nice having a family in town to watch.  That is a treat they rarely get!  We came away with two wins and one loss but they each played really really well.

The rest of the afternoon, after all the adults had afternoon naps while the kids watched a movie, was spent playing wiffle ball and trying out the climbing wall.  We ended with a yummy dinner and some time by the fire.  Great opening day, great memories!

Critter Crawl

Living down the street from a college has definite perks!  One of which is the fun activities they have for their students, staff, and community.  Recently they had a Critter Crawl and there were all kinds of fun animals to see and touch and freak out about.  We pet alligators, snakes, turtles, worms, and all sorts of different pelts from those animals that already went to be with the Lord, may they rest in peace.

The best part, after the animals, was sitting in the shady grass with fun neighbors/friends chatting about all the things while the kids ran around and rode around.  I think we might have a new gathering place for playdates this summer!

grandmimi and grandted

The boys' great grandparents came to stay with us for a night of catching up so we took the opportunity to tour them around our little neighborhood treasure.  Oxford College is a gorgeous intimate campus less than a five minute walk down the street.  Quicker if you are a bicycle riding boy.  We strolled in the beautiful cool weather, took pictures and watch a 10 year old and 7 year old race each other frantically around the quad.

Good times on Wesley Street.

4th grade field trip

In February--yes I know I'm super behind on this blog--I was able to go to the Georgia Aquarium with Micah on his school fieldtrip.  Going on fieldtrips is one thing I dreamed about, literally, when I had my babies.  I love making memories with them by going on these adventures.  Yes we go to the same places on our own as a family but seeing them relate to their friends in these environments is a totally different experience.

The Georgia Aquarium is a fun one just because there are so many creatures you would never have the chance to see and you can see them SO UP CLOSE!  Watching 4th grade boys who at times try to act super cool revert back to being little kids as they watch tiny fish and GIANT whales swim by is such a fun thing to see, even better than the fish themselves.

ICE

After a disappointing lack of snow after the weather man promised it would happen it was cold enough a few days in a row to to turn our wagon full of water into ice.  Not super exciting but it entertained these fellas for a minute or two.

rock climbing wall

Zach asked for climbing gear for Christmas and now we have a rock wall in our backyard!  This is a favorite activity whenever all the boys have a free hour.  Who doesn't want to shimmy up their shed and then repel down the other side!?

basketball 2017

Even though we are in the middle of full on baseball season, I didn't want to forget to share pictures from this year's basketball season.  This is the third year Micah and Connor have played basketball with Upward and it was just as great an experience as every other year.  They love learning more about the game, fine tuning their skills, and getting a chance to show them off every week.  I love watching them in their element and seeing their dedication through practicing on their own at home.  Team sports teach you skills you'd be hard pressed to learn anywhere else and let us form relationships with new friends which is always fun too
