Logan's birthday celebrations

Year two of birthday sharing was a success!  Logan and I woke up on our birthday and snuggled in bed watching Curious George while we waited for Zach and Connor to get home from taking Micah to school.

  We spent the morning playing and I opened my presents before we went to get Micah and head to Chickfila for Logan's birthday lunch (it was early release day).  After "chickalay" we went to coops a.k.a Scoops for ice cream and then Zach took the boys home for rest time while I got a free (from a raffle basket at NCTS) birthday massage!!  woo hoo!

Logan napped the whole time I was gone and then some.  After naps he got to open his presents.  He got his own Curious George stuffed animal and two new Curious George books.

His big present was a toddler sized trampoline to help get those energies out during cold not going outside wintery days.  He is a big fan.  So are his brothers.

All our boys love Curious George and we've never had a Curious George party so on Saturday we met some friends at the park for a little play time with our favorite monkey.  It was in the morning and a bit overcast but that was perfect because we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves.  There was lots of running, throwing, drawing and snacking.  Then there was a loooonnnnngggg nap!

Happy Birthday Logan!!

sunday song

God takes you where He wants you to go.  In every situation, rest assured, that God takes you where He wants you to go.  Our pastor has said many times during sermons that God is not so interested in your comfort.  That irritates people sometimes.  We like comfortable.  It's cozy.  However it also can be detrimental to your spirit.

Sometimes, if you're comfortable, you forget.  You forget that you need a Savior, because what is there to be saved from in the midst of comfort?  You forget you need the Spirit, because why do I need guidance when I'm all cozy and comfy?  You forget you need a Heavenly Father, because why do I need love when I'm feeling so good under my blanket of me-ness?

If you're a Christian one of your first reactions might be to think that of course you know that, of course you know you need the trinity, everyone knows that.  And you may know that, but do you really believe it.  Do you really believe that what you believe is really real?  Do you go about your day to day seeing it in action, saying it and feeling it in every situation?  The answer of course is no.  Because we're broken.  Because we 'fix' our life and ourselves with other things.  Because we get comfortable.

However, our God is such a loving God that He makes us uncomfortable for one and only reason, to seek Him.  To sit in His lap.  To cry out His name.  To give thanks to Him for all He has done.  And He does this because He knows there is no other way.   He is making us new.  He is renewing a right spirit within us.  He is making us holy.  And to do all these things, requires situations that don't allow us to hide under the world we have built for ourselves.  The houses we have built on shaky ground to try to give ourselves the feelings of security.  Many times, and believe when I say you WANT this to happen, he blows up your pitiful world you attempted to create by yourself so that we will see the one He has built.  The one we can't live without.

And you know what?  God actually is interested in our comfort, as long as it comes from the right place.  Him.  Comfort from Him is real and spectacular!

3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 5For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. 6If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. 7And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.

I say all this to say that a couple weeks ago I was in church singing as always, and then I started to listen to what I was singing, and feeling how true the words were that I was saying, and how uncomfortable it can sometimes be when God is doing what He is doing to make those words ring true.  So I just encourage you to not just sing to the cool new Christian song, or not just sing the old traditional words of a hymn, but to listen and see if you not only know what you are singing, but if you believe that it will be done, and if you can feel the places of your life that God is working.

He's 2

Happiest of Birthdays to my sweet, precious, cuddly and now 2 year old Logan.

The term "broke the mold" definitely pertains to the wild child who is The Logi Bear.  He has not only learned how to attempt to do everything his big brothers did and do but has also attempted everything they never tried to do.

Some of his other successes include...

* naming many songs within the first few notes and singing them at the top of his lungs.  Always, One Thing Remains, White Flag, and Jesus Son of God are some of his favs.  As you can tell he has a bit of a Christ Tomlin/Passion obsession.
* counting to ten and sometimes higher depending on his mood
*  one to one correspondent counting
*  throwing, kicking and anything else you can do to a ball including hitting your brothers in the head with it

Some of his favorite things are...

*  playing with his hair and playing with my hair
*  Curious George
*  Thomas the Train
*  running
*  milk
*  Veggie Tales
*  riding his scooter
*  playing with dried beans (not as weird as it sounds)
*  going to the park
*  playing with friends
* Other Zach, Donovon, Grace, Morgan, Ryan, Matt and William.  He asks for or about each of them.  and FYI only one of these people is a child.  He is all about hanging out with the adults.
*  Reilly and Ransley (babysitters extraordinaire)
*  anything you have or are eating
*  being outside
*  singing
* noni cheese
*  cheese quesadillas dipped in strawberry applesauce
*  Owlie, Blue Bear, Tigger, Nana Blanket and Elephant Blanket
*Babas
*  taking a bath
*swimming
*  jumping
*  playing drums
*  following/annoying his big brothers
 and just being an overall nut!

Logan has added a dimension of craziness to our family and we all love him dearly!
