quick tip

This stuff is AMAZING!!! Micah gets horribly chapped lips and surrounding area during the winter. Seriously, Stephanie asked him the other day if he'd been eating chocolate because the scab under his bottom lip was so bad. The problem was that I (or a certain 20 month old who grabs everything and puts it anywhere) had lost this handy dandy little swivel stick. I bought it as a hopeful cure a few months ago and it worked so well I was shocked. I bought a new one today at Target and let Micah put on his "face medicine" before nap. If it's not healed by the time he wakes up I will be surprised :) It also works great for their dry red chapped cheeks. My poor boys have the driest skin!! Please pity them for a minute.

Ok you can stop now :-)

–verb (used without object)
4.

6.
to have or gain continued or lasting acknowledgment orrecognition, as of worth, merit or greatness: His plays have endured for more than three centuries.

In the book of Psalms, over and over and over again, there is the phrase 'endures forever'. Whether it's describing His love or faithfulness, it always endures. When I think about those definitions in the place of the word in the verses I am overwhelmed. Especially when I think about how pitiful my endurance is whether physically like exercise or just patience with situations or people, I definitely don't endure even close to forever!!

Forever
Chris Tomlin

Give thanks to the Lord
Our God and King
His love endures forever
For He is good, He is above all things
His love endures forever
Sing praise, sing praise
With a mighty hand
and outstretched arm
His love endures forever
For the life that's been reborn
His love endures forever
Sing praise, sing praise
Sing praise, sing praise

Yeah
Forever God is faithful
Forever God is strong
Forever God is with us
Forever
Forever

From the rising to the setting sun
His love endures forever
By the grace of God
We will carry on
His love endures forever
Sing praise, sing praise
Sing praise, sing praise
Yeah
Forever God is faithful
Forever God is strong
Forever God is with us
Forever
Forever
Forever God is faithful
Forever God is strong
Forever God is with us
Forever
Forever
Forever

His love endures forever
His love endures forever
His love endures forever
Forever
Sing praise, sing praise
Sing praise, sing praise
Yeah
Forever you are faithful
Forever you are strong
Foerver you are with us
Forever
And ever
Yeah

Forever you are faithful
Forever you are strong
Forever you are with us
Forever
Forever
You are God.....
Forever
And ever and ever ....

amaryllis

I just wanted to share a picture of our beautiful red amaryllis. I bought a kit on sale at Target in December and Micah and I followed all of the directions very carefully (as to not screw it up!) and have been watching and watching. He was so excited when the first bloom started opening and at least once a day tells me to look at how pretty our flower is. I think he might have gotten his Papa's gardening gene! If you look closely one of the leaves is ripped off. Sweet boy Silas grabbed it one Thursday night and we all joked about being glad it wasn't the flower because it would be just like Dennis the Menace (you know where Mr. Wilson turns away and misses the bloom he waited 15 years for!) I'm honestly just excited it grew since I tend to kill most plant life :)

i'm on a boat

Micah has been asking for over a week now if we can build a boat. He either got the idea from school (they've been studying transportation and sinking/floating) or Curious George (Bill builds a boat therefore George does too) or a combination of both. Today we finally did it. We used foam trays for the base, straws for the mast and scrapbook paper for the sail. Then we had to see if they worked. They successfully floated in the tub!! Then it was cargo time. The boys had fun for about 5 minutes calmly and nicely adding animals and people to their boats. Then the storms hit!! Those poor animals didn't know what hit them. The remaining time was spent with boats capsizing, people falling out and two little boys yelling OH NO YOU'RE IN THE WATER! Fun times :)

my bucket and me

Sometimes when I'm at the store and one of the boys sees something they want I explain to them they don't need it and we don't need to spend the money on it. Then other times when I'm at the store and one of the boys sees something they want I CAVE! Example Dollar Tree...

I mean what little boy doesn't want a pint sized bucket with a spinny top!?

(word of advice, if you're going to cave do it at a dollar store. the stuff is cheaper!)

championship celebration

Saturday we took the boys to Auburn to the official National Championship Celebration. They had a blast! We got to ride on the bus (very exciting for Micah), hear the band, cheer a lot, and Micah even got to run around on the field. We sat with friends from college that we don't see very often. We met up with my parents so the boys could see their mimi and papa for a bit and to get some new furniture for Micah's room which I'll hopefully have time to paint and share soon. Micah also got to pick out his own AU hat, I got two super cute buttons to wear next season and Zach searched for the perfect new shirt (since his has been retired!) Busy, cold, fun, great day!

sunday song

Lead Me to the Cross
Hillsong

Savior I come
Quiet my soul remember
Redemptions hill
Where Your blood was spilled
For my ransom
Everything I once held dear
I count it all as lost

Lead me to the cross
Where Your love poured out
Bring me to my knees
Lord I lay me down
Rid me of myself
I belong to You
Lead me, lead me to the cross

You were as I
Tempted and trialed
You are
Te word became flesh
Bore my sin and death
Now you're risen

To your heart
To your heart
Lead me to your heart
Lead me to your heart

snowflakes

Micah and I (with a tiny amount of 'help' from connor) made snow flakes today to decorate our back doors.

Before

During the cutting

During the decorating

After

Notice Connor's face in this last picture. It led to another 10 minutes of goofy face making and then 'let me seeing' on the camera. Will share tomorrow.

my two words

Last year I chose a word for the whole year. Contentment. I loved having a focus that was integrated in every part of life. By November I kinda sorta got it though contentment is one of those things that you get better about the more you concentrate on it so I'm sure I have a long way to go until mastery!

This year I was hit with one word during Christmas. At the advice of my father in law I read the book of Isaiah during the advent season. In Isaiah 9, the part EVERYONE knows, I was struck when reading For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given. The word GIVEN totally stuck out and hit me straight in the heart especially when paired with a son being given and even more since I have two of those! I kind of pondered the word and all it's forms (given, give, gave, giving, give up), wrote something about it on a facebook status and decided that God was definitely giving me my 2011 focus. That focus will be giving of myself, my time, my money, my thoughts, my talents, and even just my smile in an intentional way. Basically, in each and every situation I am in how can I give like Christ in that situation no matter how large or small I think it is.

After a few more days I started stressing about the act of giving with your all and got a little tired before I even started. It was then that I felt two words would be a good idea and added TAKE to the list. I don't mean take as in steal, I mean take as in receive. If you spill all you have without replenishing you are straight burnt out and believe me I know burnt out! So as I am trying to give as God wants me to give I also want to take as God wants me to take. Take time for Him in prayer and study, take time to listen to those He puts in my path, take time to learn from those around me, take time to ask for help and take time to see the present before it becomes a forgotten past. So there you are, in my new year there will be a lotta give and a lotta take! Can't wait to see how it makes me grow by 2012!

If you have a word you are focusing on this year I'd love to hear it and pray for you and hope hope hope you'll pray for me in my focus as well!
