wyatt's party

Not too long ago I got to have a little alone time with Connor when I took him to a friend from school's birthday party.  It's not too often that I get to see him in a different atmosphere without one of his brothers and I loved getting to see him on his own and how he related to other kids his age.

We were so sad we forgot to take a picture of the two of us.  We were going to do it at the party and then didn't remember until we got home.  I asked him if he wanted to just take it in the car but he informed me that we weren't at Wyatt's party anymore so that didn't make any sense.  Oh that smart boy!

sunday song

  • Come, ye sinners, poor and wretched,
    Weak and wounded, sick and sore;
    Jesus ready waits to save you,
    Full of pity, love and pow’r:
    He is able, He is able,
    He is willing, doubt no more.
  • Come, ye needy, come and welcome;
    God’s free bounty glorify;
    True belief and true repentance,
    Every grace that brings us nigh,
    Without money, without money,
    Come to Jesus Christ and buy.
  • Let not conscience make you linger,
    Nor of fitness fondly dream;
    All the fitness He requireth
    Is to feel your need of Him:
    This He gives you, this He gives you,
    ’Tis the Spirit’s rising beam.
  • Come, ye weary, heavy laden,
    Lost and ruined by the fall;
    If you tarry till you’re better,
    You will never come at all:
    Not the righteous, not the righteous,
    Sinners Jesus came to call.
  • Agonizing in the garden,
    Your Redeemer prostrate lies;
    On the bloody tree behold Him!
    Hear Him cry, before He dies,
    “It is finished!” “It is finished!“
    Sinner, will not this suffice?
  • Lo! th’ incarnate God, ascended,
    Pleads the merit of His blood;
    Venture on Him, venture wholly;
    Let no other trust intrude:
    None but Jesus, none but Jesus,
    Can do helpless sinners good.

    playing ball

    We are two weeks into baseball season and the May family has been busy busy.

     Micah is playing in the 7/8 year old league on the Blue Jays this year and Connor is in t ball on the Angels and they are absolutely loving it.  Like seriously loving it.  And I am loving watching them.

    Honestly one of my favorite things about being a mama is just the watching.  I mean I love playing with them and teaching them things and doing things alongside them but when you get the chance to just watch, to stand on the side and look, you see how much they have learned and how they have grown and who they are when they are living their little life.  I know it's not all sunshine and roses.  When you stand back and look you can see the difficult stuff and the sin that overshadows everything but you also see those glimpses of what you have taught them and those glimpses of what they have figured out on their own and it makes your heart burst with pride and, in my case, it makes you tear up.

    So yes on Connor's first game when I saw him run to first and get his glove ready to "catch" the ball there were tears welling in my eyes because I know he's bigger and he's learning and as I watch he has thoughts running through his head reminding him of everything he's supposed to know.  And yes when Micah walked into the dugout on his own and unpacked his stuff and joked around with his friends and ran onto the field ready to play with that seriously legit ballplayer look on his face I teared up because he knows what's going on, he's becoming aware of how to be on a team and he's ready to work hard at something he loves.

    I love my sweet ball players.

    sunday song

    Look among the nations and see; wonder and be astounded.
    For I am doing a work in your days that you would not believe if told.
    Habakkuk 1:5
    Not For a Moment
    Vertical Church Band
    You were reaching through the storm
    Walking on the water
    Even when I could not see
    In the middle of it all
    When I thought You were a thousand miles away
    Not for a moment did You forsake me
    Not for a moment did You forsake me
    After all, You are constant
    After all, You are only good
    After all, You are Sovereign
    Not for a moment will You forsake me
    Not for a moment will You forsake me
    You were singing in the dark
    Whispering Your promise
    Even when I could not hear
    I was held in Your arms
    Carried for a thousand miles to show
    Not for a moment did You forsake me
    Not for a moment did You forsake me
    After all, You are constant
    After all, You are only good
    After all, You are Sovereign
    Not for a moment will You forsake me
    Not for a moment will You forsake me
    Every step, every breath You are there
    Every tear, every cry, every prayer
    In my hurt, at my worst
    When my world falls down
    Not for a moment will You forsake me
    Not for a moment will You forsake me
    After all, You are constant
    After all, You are only good
    After all, You are Sovereign
    Not for a moment will You forsake me
    Not for a moment will You forsake me

    things they say

    One day I was at Leslie's and noticed a jar on her counter full of index cards.  She said that she had started keeping track of all the funny things and mess ups that her kids say which I found brilliant because I could not stop laughing while looking through them and know that my boys said the same kinds of things.

    Zach put a cool note taker app on my phone so I've been keeping up with most of the funny/interesting/ridiculous things that come out of our blonde boys' mouths.

    M:  I didn't eat my clementine because I already had a fruit in my lunch... cheese.   Well it's not a fruit but it was healthy so I didn't need another healthy thing.

    C:  This spaghetti is good.   Ha ha I mean pasketti.  (When he thought seriously thought spaghetti was wrong)

    L:  while playing spy with Connor,  Logan ran in the room and yelled "mama I sneak on you" which made his big brother not so happy.

    L: "puppy" jacket is his puffy jacket

    M:  Micah and I had a very hilarious "Who's On First" type of conversation when I told him we were watching Beethoven for movie night.  It had me in tears!  I don't want to type out the whole thing but at one point during it he said "I just don't want to watch a movie about a dog that writes music"

    L:  me- sorry Charlie
         logan- I not Charlie I logi bear

    M: praying.   Dear Lord Thank you that the seahawks won.  Help the broncos to not be sad.

    C: mama tell me all the reason that you love me. After I gave him a list of lots of different things I can think of he said I can't tell you all the things I love about you because I would have to talk all day and all night and all day and all night and all day and all night.

    M: "mama pretend you're a boy?"   Then he proceeded to ask me a baseball question.

    C: Sin is fun.   Daddy said**.  But you know what's really bad?  Telling god no.  I'll never say that cause I love       God but you know who doesn't love God?   Cheetahs.

           **To clarify, Zach didn't exactly say sin was fun.  During one of their devotionals Micah asked why people would sin and he was explaining that sometimes sin can be something that seems fun.  His example was them playing outside and then one of us coming to tell them it's time to come inside but instead of listening you keep playing because it is fun.

    C:  When Daisy dies can we get a dog that runs around and does stuff?

    L:  While spotting a hold in his khakis he said "my pants broke"

    L:  let's play Oh spot (I spy)

    L: (while watching a pig on Curious George) mama I don't eat mud, I eat popcorns.

    M: If a baby drove a car it would not do a good job

    spring fever

    With this crazy ol' Georgia weather we keep getting teased with warm, beautiful, blue sky, sunny days in the midst of the cold ones.  Every spring like day though we are outside for as much as possible!

    This past weekend was slightly chilly and GORGEOUS.  The boys spend hours outside on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.  Zach spent most of Saturday afternoon cleaning the garage (YAY) and blowing all the leaves (DOUBLE YAY) so Connor and Logan took the opportunity to do some major leaf diving.

    And have I mentioned that living on a cul de sac is amazing.  Except for the part involving Logan thinking all streets are safe to play in.  We'll have to work on that part when we go visiting.

    baseball season

    Baseball season is starting in two weeks and this year we will be watching two athletes.  Connor is playing tball this year on the Angels and Micah is in the 7-8 year olds on the Blue Jays.

    We have known one of Connor's coaches since we moved to Conyers because I taught with his wife who is also a very good friend still!  Both of his coaches go to church together and are so patient.  It's exactly what I wanted for Connor's first experience.  A little skill practice and a lot of patience and fun!  He's the oldest on his team and you can totally tell but it's a good leadership opportunity for him.

    As both boys prepare on the field, Zach and I are preparing our hearts for the environment of games.  You don't have to look too far for an opportunity to show the love of Christ.  Yes there are the obvious places and through ministries but EVERY place you are in whether it's your car in traffic, your job, the grocery store, the gym, or an athletic game is an opportunity to be the light of Christ. Through that Spirit within you, you can shine like Matthew 5:16 says, you can be different like in John 13:34-35, and you will hopefully have the opportunity to fulfill 1 Peter 3:15.  So pray for us please that we can do these things, as we pray for you to do them within the places and opportunities God places you.

    sunday song

    This song is one of my favorites from Ellie Holcomb's new album As Sure As the Sun.  However, every song is pretty amazing and has beautiful lyrics that I could just listen to over and over and have been for the last couple of weeks!  It's inspired by 1 Corinthians 13.

    Love Never Fails
    Ellie Holcomb

    Love is patient, Love is Kind
    Love doesn't wait to cross over to the other side
    It's worth never giving up
    It's worth holding on cause

    Love never fails and that's a promise (woah oh oh oh oh)
    Love never fails help me believe it ( woah oh oh oh oh)
    Help me to trust that this is true
    Help me to love like you do
    Oh, Lord help me to live like
    Love never fails

    Love doesn't strut, it is not proud
    Love will make sure to be seeking other's out
    Love doesn't try to keep the score
    It sides with forgiveness

    Love never fails and that's a promise (woah oh oh oh oh)
    Love never fails help me believe it ( woah oh oh oh oh)
    Help me to trust that this is true
    Help me to love like you do
    Oh, Lord help me to live like
    Love never fails

    Love has eyes to see in pain
    Love will never run away
    It holds out hope
    It holds out trust
    Love will always be enough

    Love never fails and that's a promise
    Love never fails help me believe it ( woah oh oh oh oh)
    Help me to trust that this is true
    Help me to love just like you do
    Oh, Lord help me to live like
    Love never fails
