Luau

Due to the insane Georgia winter this year we had three make up days after Memorial Day to finish out the school year.  When you add three days on a teacher's end of the year it is not easy so in came an ALL day party.  Being the co room mom for Mrs. Hodges' class an all day party had me nervous but it worked out great!

The day started with class rotations.  Each class rotated to each other teacher's class to do a Hawaiian activity.  The other room mom was in charge of this and she made cute pineapples for the gets to decorate and did a little fact lesson about Hawaii.  In the other classes Micah learned a line dance, made necklaces, did a fish craft and practiced the Hula.

After lunch we went outside for games.  I brought our horseshoes and cornhole boards for our games and they were a big hit!

They ended up the day with coconut races and popsicles and then we both went home and collapsed on the couch.  Fun times in first grade!!

memorial day in montgomery

Our Memorial Day was fantastically fun.  We drove down to Montgomery, AL Sunday morning to meet up with my whole family.  We stayed at the Renaissance because teachers get an amazing discount and every other person in my family, besides my geeky husband, works or has worked in the school system at one time.  We walked down the street to see a Biscuits game and took advantage of the rooftop pool.  It was the first time we have all been together somewhere other than Enterprise ever I think and it was so great!  Looking forward to the next travelling adventure :)

blue jays!

The Blue Jays had an EXCELLENT season this year.  They ended with only two losses and second place for in the regular season standings.  At the end of the season they always have a tournament and they got second place there as well.

We had to beat the Marlins to make it to the championship game and our boys played their hearts out!  Everyone got hits, everyone was focused and it paid off.  I have never seen Micah so excited.  Before we had left for the game that night he said all he wanted was a chance to play in a championship game.

The next night we headed back to the fields for the BIG game against the Pirates.  We had beat them the first regular season game but they beat us the second time around.  The Pirates are GOOD.  Half their team is on a travel ball team and the coach is their travel ball coach.  Our guys couldn't keep up that day.  They all handled it pretty well and were good sports.  They got a second place medal and lots of applause from their parents and coaches.

Every year Micah has played he's had great coaches (same head coach all three years) and great teammates with great parents.  He is learning to love something and learning how to perfect skills and learning how to encourage and be encouraged.

SO PROUD of our BLUE JAYS!!!

1st grade field day

Another day in the always crazy month of May was Field Day.  Zach went in the morning to help set up and watch the activities in the gym and I went in the afternoon to watch the field races.  Micah was in the 50 yard dash and a scooter relay plus all the whole class races.  Mrs. Hodges class came in second...ALOT...but never could quite make the first place spot.
