RO2:thursday

Some days you run out of words.  You run out of ways to explain what you saw and felt.  You run out of energy to process it again.  You run out of the ability to question or seek answers.   You just know that the lives you are seeing are hard and you have very limited ability to change it so you smile and play and love and pray that God will take your meager offerings and make Himself known.

This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. 17 If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?  Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.  1 John 3:16-18

We love because he first loved us.  1 John 4:19

This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome,  for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.  1 John 5:2-5
