sunday song

At The Foot Of The Cross (Ashes To Beauty)
At the foot of the cross
Where grace and suffering meet
You have shown me Your love
Through the judgment You received

And You've won my heart
Yes You've won my heart
Now I can

Trade these ashes in for beauty
And wear forgiveness like a crown
Coming to kiss the feet of mercy
I lay every burden down
At the foot of the cross

At the foot of the cross
Where I am made complete
You have given me life
Through the death You bore for me

I'm laying every burden down
I'm laying every burden down

bleach shirts

Recently on pinterest I saw this idea to bleach shirts. There are lots of them out there and they are all cute but I thought this was a cool idea for Micah and Connor. We tried it out this afternoon. I printed out intials and words then cut them out then traced them on contact then cut those out and put them on the shirt. By the end of that I decided a silhouette is DEFINITELY in my future! Anyway we hung them up outside and bleached away. I really like the end result except that 1) I need to leave it on a little longer. I was so worried about it eating into the shirt that I might have washed it out to early and 2) I didn't stick Connor's initial on firmly enough so it didn't show up. Micah loved his initial shirt and the big brother shirts I made the boys are great too! I will definitely be trying this again with some different items too!

highlands, nc: 3

Wednesday morning we hiked down to Glen Falls. It ended up being QUITE a hike. Mainly because the whole beginning was downhill so we were done there was nothing but uphill to look forward too :( Regardless, the falls were beautiful. Micah hiked by himself with his own personal "hiking stick" and he and Nana found every mushroom on the trail. He and Leah also picked up tons of sticks, rocks and leaves for their "collections" Kids seriously are so fun to watch and talk to!

During rest/nap time the guys (minus Poppy) went to Bust Your Butt Falls. They said it was awesome but during the escapade Zach ended up losing his wedding ring :( That's another post to come. When they got home we spent some time playing horseshoes and badminton outside and glancing at the amazing view some more.

Tuesday morning we went to the Highlands Botanical Gardens. Our favorites were the beautiful lake covered in lily pads, blackberry bushes, gigantic turtle and the nature center. Micah loved touching all of the bones, skins, shells, nuts, leaves, etc that they had on display. I really wanted to take him back during nap time one day but we never had the chance.

That afternoon we headed out to Sliding Rock. Seriously fun! I didn't slide for fear I would fall in a hole or do something else to my unborn child. Jess was braver than I was and tried it a couple times anyway. She's braver than I am period though! Micah and Connor took turns sliding down with Zach and they both LOVED it! I had just as much fun watching as they did sliding. Between turns I made sure whoever wasn't going had fun throwing rocks in the water, digging in the sand and of course taking pictures of the sliders. Definitely want to go there again on our next visit!

25 weeks

So except for announcing that this is indeed boy #3 I haven't done much of a pregnancy update. Honestly except for the fact that I am hot all the time, eat a ridiculous amount, and have an ever growing belly, I forget some days that I'm pregnant. It's definitely much different than the first time around when all I could do was think about the pregnancy. Right now its nice that he's chilling inside and I don't have to worry about him yet :) We are in the process redoing the play room into Micah and Connor's room and then redoing Micah's room into the nursery and guest room. It'll be super cute when finished but just the fact that I have now reorganized this entire house for the fifth time is wearing on me!! I'm sure by the time it's all actually done, cleaned out and organized is when someone will want to buy the house. However that won't bother me a bit! Until then here's my 25 week belly :)

He measures about 13 1/2 inches. His weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but he's beginning to exchange his long, lean look for some baby fat. As he does, his wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and he'll start to look more and more like a newborn. He's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture. ~ courtesy of baby center.com

highlands, nc: 1

Last week we spent a nice, relaxing, outdoorsy vacation with Zach's parents and siblings (well as many as could be there) We arrived late Sunday night and got outside almost immediately. Monday morning we went to a lake I can't remember the name of and had a picnic lunch then hiked/walked around it and swam. It rained for a little bit during the hike but cleared up before we swam. The water was a bit chilly, but that makes sense because the weather was upper 70s with NO horribly hot sticky unbreathable humid Atlanta air :)

On the way home from the lake we stopped at Dry Falls. It's a huge water fall with a walking area behind it. It was a special stop for me because Highlands was Micah's first vacation and we have a special picture of the three of us there. We went with a group of friends when Micah was just 6 weeks old!

We spent the rest of the day at the (awesomely decorated with fabulous furniture that I wanted to steal) house looking at the view and hanging out.

summer celebration

As a wrap up to our Backyard Bible Club we through a Summer Celebration Party at CCC on the following Sunday afternoon. We invited all of our BBC attendees plus passed out flyers to nearby businesses and apartment buildings. There was an AWESOME turnout. We had carnival style games, a big inflatable, plenty of free food and drinks, and lots of people to fellowship with. I was overwhelmed with how God can use fun to further His Kingdom. There were smiles all around and one little boy told our Pastor that he felt 'so special' here because people were so nice and wanted to give him things and help him have fun. YES!!!
