botanical gardens

On Thursday we headed to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. My parents are HUGE gardeners and I love flowers, though I kill most of them, so I thought this would be a fun field trip. It was Earth Day so the tickets were buy one get one (sweet!) and there were also fun handsish on exhibits for kids too. The first one were a frog talk. That thing was huge! The second one was a box full of worms. Very fitting since my dad calls all children worms and relates everything they do, say or eat with worms.

The actual gardens were just beautiful. We started in the rose garden, ventured through the herbs, and did a music activity on the lawn. They had lots of instruments for the kids to play make out of various woods and some were filled with seeds to make different noises.

We spent a lot of time in the conservatory walking through the jungle, dessert and orchid exhibit. It was pretty wet and humid in there! We even spotted a turtle among the plants in the jungle. He didn't look super happy to be there.

Our last stop was the Children's Garden. They had this amazing Chinese Fringe Tree on the bridge to get there. LOVED IT! Micah walked through the life cycle of a butterfly, went down the slide, dug in the sand for dinosaur fossils, walked under a waterfall, played in the treehouse, and splashed in the sunflower sprinkler.

This is definitely on the top of my faves list for Atlanta family spots. It was beautiful, relaxing, spacious, quiet and fun. Will DEFINITELY be visiting again!

  1. It is one of my favorite places to go to. So much to look at and it never gets old and is always changing.
