My goodness oh gracious was this the fullest day ever! Never before as far as I can remember was there an actual birthday on a Saturday where there was the usual birthday stuff plus the birthday party. Usually there's a day or two or 6 in between to give mama some time to get everything ready. And there's usually not an ice storm the three previous days before so that a mama can actually get out of the house to get the things she needs. I did a pretty good job pre planning but you always miss something. In our case it was ice cream and balloons.
Anyway...
We woke up Saturday morning and suddenly a 7 year old walked down the stairs into the living room. Be still my heart. How is this possible!?
Around here you get special decisions for your birthday when it comes to food. Always you get to pick your birthday breakfast and birthday dinner. Lunch is up in the air :) Micah picked Dunkin' Donuts for his birthday breakfast so Zach took everyone's order and headed out.
After breakfast and before baseball practice/team meeting Micah opened his gifts from us. We gave him the Diary of a Wimpy Kid do it yourself book which he had been BEGGING for since the school bookfair, a Rainbow Loom, light up speakers to hook his "phone"/my old phone that has songs on it, and a star wars lego set.
I always measure them on or around their birthdays. Do you see that HUGE jump from last year!?
At 1 that afternoon we had a little party with a few of his friends at a slot car racing place in Covington called Fast Times. It's pretty awesome. They let him pick a car to keep. He picked a royal blue Jaguar and then he got to use it to race with during the party. They have five minute races with four cars at a time and a computer keeps track of your laps as you go. I lost count of how many races they did but you get an hour and a half and they didn't waste a minute!
After the races we headed into a party room for cake, ice cream and presents. I decorated Micah's cake the night before while the boys were having movie night. He picked a car cake this year which happens to be the same cake pan I used for his 2nd birthday which just made me cry thinking about how he was two and now he's seven and wahhhhhhh!
He got some great gifts from his friends. Griffin couldn't stop laughing before Micah opened his present from him because he gave Micah a "Birthday Princess" card which they both thought was hilarious.
After some needed rest at home we took Logan to our friend Dara Lynn and Matt's house so he could hang out with their son Sam while we took Micah to Longhorn for his birthday dinner. This child has been talking about eating a steak at Longhorn for his birthday since last summer. We're pretty sure he saw some commercials during the Braves game because we have never ever been there or even talked about it. We had a pretty good wait even though we got there early but the little man got his hunk of meat so all were excited!
Oh Micah May how much we love you! You have grown so much this past year and I don't just mean in height. Though you can definitely get super frustrated with your brothers if pushed to the limit you have a silly loving spirit towards them both. You love your quiet thinking, drawing and reading time but can also be a goofy, crazy fella when the time comes and a bravery for trying new things which has not always been your style. You always seem to make friends so easily which I assume you got from your Daddy! Through getting your own bible at Easter, the devotions after dinner and the talks with your Dad at night you have become so full of thoughts and questions about life and why things happen and what they mean. It's so amazing to see your world opening before you but also still veiled in childlike peace. What a blessing to have both at the same time. I know I tease you about not being able to grow up but I have to admit that you're right there is nothing I can do about it and I'm so proud to watch it happen!
