going home

We were up at 3:30 am to catch our 4:00 am shuttle to the air port in Budapest 4 hours away.  We had around 4 hours to kill before our flight so all but one of us decided to venture into the city and see as much as we could see in a two hour round trip drive into Budapest.  Zach, the birthday boy, and Justin spearheaded the journey.

We found an awesome taxi driver named Marianne who drove a car with us and the moons which was kind of awesome because it was pretty much the only alone time we had with them the entire time.  Her coworker drove a taxi behind us with the other 5.  She was a TRIP and was seriously the best tour guide ever.  After you count in the trip there and back from the airport we had about an hour in the city.  The whole drive in she explained to us where she was going to drop us off and where to walk so that we could see a lot on the road to where she was going to pick us up.  She talked non stop and told us all about the buildings, people, roads, government, history, etc.  IT WAS AWESOME!!

I can barely remember the names of everything because it was such a whirlwind but we started on a hill next to a castle and bastile and worked our way down a hill and across Chain Bridge which was also nextish to Parliament.  From there she picked us up and took us up to the citadel and their statue of liberty type thing to the most amazing view of the city.  On the way back to the airport she drove a different way and went past Hero's Square.  Zach jumped out of the car, ran across the street and grabbed a quick picture before hopping back in the taxi and heading to catch our flight.

The next 20 hours consisted of three flights, two layovers and a bus trip to church to pick up our cars and head home.  It was a loooooooonnnnnnnnnngggggggggg day and I have never been so happy to get in my bed.
