sunday song

                                                              In The Light

I keep trying to find a life
On my own, apart from You
I am the king of excuses
I've got one for every selfish thing I do

What's going on inside of me?
I despise my own behavior
This only serves to confirm my suspicions
That I'm still a man in need of a Savior

[chorus]
I wanna be in the Light
As You are in the Light
I wanna shine like the stars in the heavens
Oh, Lord be my Light and be my salvation
Cause all I want is to be in the Light
All I want is to be in the Light

The disease of self runs through my blood
It's a cancer fatal to my soul
Every attempt on my behalf has failed
To bring this sickness under control

Tell me, what's going on inside of me?
I despise my own behavior
This only serves to confirm my suspicions
That I'm still a man in need of a Savior

I wanna be in the Light
As You are in the Light
I wanna shine like the stars in the heavens
Oh, Lord be my Light and be my salvation
Cause all I want is to be in the Light
All I want is to be in the Light

Honesty becomes me
(There's nothing left to lose)
The secrets that did run me
(In Your presence are defused)
Pride has no position
(And riches have no worth)
The fame that once did cover me
(Has been sentenced to this Earth)
Has been sentenced to this Earth

Tell me, what's going on inside of me?
I despise my own behavior
This only serves to confirm my suspicions
That I'm still a man in need of a Savior

I wanna be in the Light
As You are in the Light
I wanna shine like the stars in the heavens
Oh, Lord be my Light and be my salvation
Cause all I want is to be in the Light
All I want is to be in the Light

I wanna be in the Light
As You are in the Light
I wanna shine like the stars in the heavens
Oh, Lord be my Light and be my salvation
Cause all I want is to be in the Light
All I want is to be in the Light

phone pic Friday

This was not an all too exciting week.  Lots of just your regular schedule.  Which, honestly is so nice.  It just means we are starting to get into a groove with school, church, and extracurriculars and starting to be more and more at home and less like we're in transition.  Moving, even if just a few miles down the road, is not for the faint of heart!

Last Sunday the boys were up bright and early and got some catching in before church.  Micah is playing fall ball for the first time this year to get ready for his big jump to the next league in the spring and he got a new, bigger glove.  It needs lot of working out!

We've decided that this little one is staying with us and becoming a May.  His name is Obi Wan Kenobi May, or Obi for short.  We still need a home for his sister and I am praying for a good one because she is just so cute and sweet and feisty and is growing on us for sure.

During the Daniel study I'm doing this verse struck me hard.  So often we try and separate the world and God, but this is just out there truth that God IS the world.  He created it, He controls it and no matter what History we learn, He is the one telling the story.  Smack dab in the middle of all those empires struggling for control and dominancy, Daniel tells the most powerful ruler at the time that God is building a Kingdom that won't end.  Jesus is coming.

Some one is having a difficult time transitioning to preschool.  When I say difficult I mean when he is in class He is awesome, friendly, fun, participates, is "so sweet" as his teacher says BUT when it's time to actually get out of the car and go in and clings on for dear life and acts as if he has never been around people in his life.  He is BY FAR the most stubborn child we have, like by a LONG shot.  He can't fool me though.  I know he loves it and I know he is just trying to prove that he's in control but he will not break me.  Even if he is the cutest three year old boy I know.

I got to visit a local awesome grocery store/farmers market/world market with a friend this past week.  I've wanted to go since we moved here 11 years ago but I'm a chicken when it comes to going new places and it finally worked out to go with someone with lots of experience who also happens to love food and cooking as well.  It was great fun :)

I got to check off looking at you tube videos on how to remove minifigure helmets this week.  Very exciting.  Flashes head got stuck on an x wing pilot's body and I tried every tool I could think of.  Finally I hot glued the head on the body, pulled the helmet off, and then pulled the head off and peeled off the hot glue.  Worked great.

Zach and I have both become those people who take pictures and videos of kittens sleeping, playing, wrestling, climbing, etc.  Yeah.  Not sure how that happened but they're just so so cute!

This handsome boy got a haircut.  He wanted it short like Anakin in Star Wars 2 so I cut it short.  Then he immediately looked five and I regretted the decision.

Fall, you are welcome anytime!

I borrrowed the next pictures from Zach's phone.  Here is Micah and the glove I mentioned.  Zach told him that this was THE glove.  The one he would have forever.  It made him a little sentimental thinking about the time he got his THE glove with his dad way back in the day.  Core memories friends.

And here is a picture of my crazy sweet middle man at breakfast with his daddy.  Things have not been easy breezy with him lately.  Lots of parenting, reminding, learning, building, encouraging, disciplining.  Growing up is hard but totally worth it.  The good thing is he bounces back fast and his smile will melt you every time.

climbing trees

Every Time I Climb a Tree

Every time I climb a tree
Every time I climb a tree
Every time I climb a tree
I scrape a leg
Or skin a knee
And every time I climb a tree
I find some ants
Or dodge a bee
And get the ants
All over me.

And every time I climb a tree
Where have you been?
They say to me
But don't they know that I am free
Every time I climb a tree?

I like it best
To spot a nest
That has an egg
Or maybe three.

And then I skin
The other leg
But every time I climb a tree
I see a lot of things to see
Swallows rooftops and TV
And all the fields and farms there be
Every time I climb a tree
Though climbing may be good for ants
It isn't awfully good for pants
But still it's pretty good for me
Every time I climb a tree

thursday adventures: turner lake park

Last Thursday was the exact opposite of the previous one.  It was hot and humid and the thought of going outside made me want to cry but we big fat did it anyway and I'm glad we did.  We headed to a local park with Logan's bike and spent an hour and a half riding slowly down the trail through the woods and stopping at every bench, dock and overlook to throw sticks in the lake, feed the ducks or look for pinecones.  We also saw dozens and dozens of baby frogs hopping across the trail.  Logan even caught one for a closer look.  I'm still shocked he didn't squeeze the poor things head off.  Gentleness is not his strong suit.  On the way home we splurged on chickfila nuggets which are never a bad idea.

thursday adventures: zoo day

Now that Logan is gone three mornings a week and I get a lot done during that time, Thursdays have been officially dubbed as adventure days.  The plan is to spend every Thursday out of the house doing something we wouldn't do everyday.  It might be just an hour or two or it might be all day.  It might be a long drive or just down the road.  The point is that my babiest baby isn't a baby any more and as my time being a full time SAHM is quite possibly coming to a close in the next year or two and as hard as it is I wouldn't trade it for anything and I want to soak it up!

Our first Thursday adventure was at Zoo Atlanta.  We woke up to a beautiful low 80s little humidity day which is pretty much unheard of for a Georgia August so we took advantage and headed to the zoo.  Every trip to the zoo is a new adventure in itself and we always see and experience different things.  Because school is back everywhere it was not crowded and the animals were loving the weather just as much as us so they were all out and enjoying the breezes.

On this trip...
*Logan ate up his being the only one there time.  The last time we took a just him trip to the zoo he was barely three and we were still pushing a stroller around needing a nap every day.  He was so excited to be walking without having to follow his brothers and having sole control of the map.
*Both elephants were out and we got to see one drinking water from their lake.  It then proceeded to turn around and use the bathroom right in front of us as well.  I'll just say race horses ain't got nothing on an elephant. Mercy!  Logan thought it was hilarious and it was the first thing he shared with M&C when we picked them up.
*All three lion brothers were awake and checking out their territory.
*Both rhinos were out AND walking around.
*when we were visiting the reptiles one of the alligators saw us walk up to the tank and swam straight over and stared at us right through the glass.  A little intimidating for sure!

kittens

After we closed on this beloved new home of ours lots of work was to be done before we could actually move in and use it as our everyday home.  Of course lots is still to be done now that we are here, but isn't that always the case.  The first day that Logan and I showed up to start out weeks of painting all the things we saw a little gray and white kitten on our porch.  Her ear was cut, her nose was a little bloody and she wasn't the biggest fan of us trying to pet her but she ate our offerings of chickfila waffle fries, crushed up scooby snacks and drank water from a ripped in half styrofoam cup found in the empty cabinets.

The next day went about the same way and the next and the next until we realized that somehow our home had been adopted by this little girl and we were going to have to take her or force her out.  Little by little she grew used to us and by the time we actually made the big move, Leia was officially ours, albeit outdoors only because of all the allergic people in our lives.  On my long list of summer to dos was written to take Leia to the vet to make sure more little Leias didn't start crowding the porch.  However, an overly busy summer and some miscalculations of age led to a discovery two weeks ago.

We had kittens!

Somehow this young mama had two kittens and kept them safe and hidden for over three weeks (more or less) around our home.  Zach found them under Connor's skateboard and all five of us were immediately smitten.  I mean seriously kittens are so stinking cute!  For the past two weeks we have been watching Leia care for her son and daughter and intervening only when she decided that another hiding place was necessary and carted them off to the across the street neighbor's garage.

Just yesterday we decided that we will for sure keep one so the little black and white blue eyed boy is going to stay here with us and hopefully we will find a friendly home for the little Calico soon.  Until then we'll just oooh and ahhh over the cuteness and set up a vet appointment STAT!

sintelec photo shoot

Whilst we were in Romania, Zach and I had a photoshoot done.  Lanie Bruski's boyfriend, Andrei, is working to earn money to go to the university and was offering photoshoots for a donation.  We obviously took him up on it because how often does Zach get to be the one in front of the camera.  It was a very silly time as we cuddled, smiled, and practiced our best hipster straight faces at which we failed MISERABLY!  If you want a serious model I am not your girl.  Then there was that time Zach tried to save me from a tractor traveling 3 miles an hour.  He's such a hero.
