sunday song

I sing this to my babies every night and have since Micah was a little bitty.

I love you Lord
and I lift my voice
to worship you
oh my soul, rejoice

Take joy my King
in what You hear
make me a sweet, sweet sound
in your ear.

rainy fourth

It was a rainy fourth of July everywhere but our small group plus extra friends didn't let it get us down.  The kids and a great daddy (Zach) and Papa (Steve) braved the chilly pool water and the rest of us hung out and fellowshipped.  There was some grilling, eating, and daytime firework shooting.

When we got home we let Micah and Connor do the HUGE sparklers that we got at Kayla and Alex's wedding a couple months ago.

Fun times!

braves vs. marlins

 Tuesday night we went to the Braves game with the Cardozas.  It was our first game of the season and the boys were so so so so so so so so so so so excited.  There might not be enough so's to really explain how pumped they were.

We had great seats six rows up behind the right field fence.  Micah was extremely focused the whole time so that he didn't miss anything.  We even saw the Braves pick someone off at first and he said "I've never seen them pick on someone and get them before."  It was so darn cute!

At the 7th inning we made the long walk up to the upperdeck so that the kids could run the base at the top.  They each had about 10 turns before we headed back to the car.  The braves won 12-3!!  We are looking forward to the next game which will hopefully be on a Sunday afternoon so that they can run the REAL bases!!

readjusting

So when you leave the country for 8 days things you left either don't stop or don't get done.  I hit me hard in the middle of last week.  In fact in one of our email chains from our mission team I shared this...

And in the meantime over here I have been crying off and on for the past hour and a half about anything and everything.  I think exhaustion, mental pictures and typical frustrations just collided into a big storm of emotional craziness.

I feel like I've had to hit the ground running as soon as we got back due to kids and parents and getting the house ready for Donovan and a family funeral and a family newborn and everything else that doesn't stop while you're gone.

None of the things I needed to do were bad or hard or anything else it was just that realization that things don't stop and my brain was no longer able to only concentrated on one place, it was time to get back to multi thinking.

Because of the different things I needed to get done for the other house and things needed to catch up on due to our time gone, there was lots of pick up around the house and lots of errands that got run.  However, due to exhaustion, jet lag and just the fact that I missed my babies there were lots of Curious George couch snuggles, movie watching, and fun outings mixed in with errands.

One was taking the boys to get ice cream in Olde Town Conyers after dropping off my mama bracelet to finally have Logan's charm put on.  Creamberry was closed so we hit up the drugstore for some $1 hot dogs and yummy milkshakes.  Then we walked around the little botanical garden and looked at the goldfish for a bit. I kept a firm grasp on Logan because I was fairly confident had I not he would have taken a swim!

p.s check out Connor's outfit that he definitely wore to Target while we picked out a birthday present and to the jewelry store before stopping to eat.

sunday song

  1. O Love that wilt not let me go,
    I rest my weary soul in thee;
    I give thee back the life I owe,
    That in thine ocean depths its flow
    May richer, fuller be.
  2. O light that foll’west all my way,
    I yield my flick’ring torch to thee;
    My heart restores its borrowed ray,
    That in thy sunshine’s blaze its day
    May brighter, fairer be.
  3. O Joy that seekest me through pain,
    I cannot close my heart to thee;
    I trace the rainbow through the rain,
    And feel the promise is not vain,
    That morn shall tearless be.
  4. O Cross that liftest up my head,
    I dare not ask to fly from thee;
    I lay in dust life’s glory dead,
    And from the ground there blossoms red
    Life that shall endless be.

going home

We were up at 3:30 am to catch our 4:00 am shuttle to the air port in Budapest 4 hours away.  We had around 4 hours to kill before our flight so all but one of us decided to venture into the city and see as much as we could see in a two hour round trip drive into Budapest.  Zach, the birthday boy, and Justin spearheaded the journey.

We found an awesome taxi driver named Marianne who drove a car with us and the moons which was kind of awesome because it was pretty much the only alone time we had with them the entire time.  Her coworker drove a taxi behind us with the other 5.  She was a TRIP and was seriously the best tour guide ever.  After you count in the trip there and back from the airport we had about an hour in the city.  The whole drive in she explained to us where she was going to drop us off and where to walk so that we could see a lot on the road to where she was going to pick us up.  She talked non stop and told us all about the buildings, people, roads, government, history, etc.  IT WAS AWESOME!!

I can barely remember the names of everything because it was such a whirlwind but we started on a hill next to a castle and bastile and worked our way down a hill and across Chain Bridge which was also nextish to Parliament.  From there she picked us up and took us up to the citadel and their statue of liberty type thing to the most amazing view of the city.  On the way back to the airport she drove a different way and went past Hero's Square.  Zach jumped out of the car, ran across the street and grabbed a quick picture before hopping back in the taxi and heading to catch our flight.

The next 20 hours consisted of three flights, two layovers and a bus trip to church to pick up our cars and head home.  It was a loooooooonnnnnnnnnngggggggggg day and I have never been so happy to get in my bed.
