Connor had two walking field trips last week and I got to go with him on both of them. It was nice to earn some very needed volunteer hours, but even nicer to get some one on one time with my middle man.
Trip number one was two a local fire station. We toured a ladder truck and rescue truck, saw the firemen's bunk and watched a video on fire safety. I loved listening in to the camaraderie of the firemen and seeing the love they have for their job and each other. It is not a job for the faint of heart and seeing those strong, physically and mentally, men love and get joy from hanging out with five classes of crazy first graders was a joy for me. Thankful hearts all around.
